SPEAKER ROMANOFF RESPONDS TO SUPREME COURT’S DECISION

ON AMENDMENT 41 INTERROGATORY

DENVER - The Colorado Supreme Court today denied a petition to consider an interrogatory related to Amendment 41. The legislature sent the interrogatory to determine whether it had the authority under Senate Bill 210 to define frivolous complaints.

In response, House Speaker Andrew Romanoff (D-Denver) released the following statement:

“The Court has spoken, and I respect its decision. The voters have spoken as well. They demand – and deserve – a government that maintains the highest ethical standards. We will appoint an ethics commission that settles for nothing less.”

The Governor today signed Senate Bill 210 into law. Appointments to the ethics commission is expected to be announced soon.
